Wells Fargo Hires Former UBS Asia-Pac Head To Lead Asia Securities

Wells Fargo Securities, the capital markets and investment banking arm of US-based Wells Fargo & Company, has announced a new head for its Asia business.

Mark Jones assumes a newly-created position based in Hong Kong, where he is responsible for overseeing all investment banking and capital markets activities, including advisory services and sales and trading for the Asia-Pacific region. He reports jointly to the co-heads of Wells Fargo Securities' markets division and the co-heads of the investment banking and capital markets groups in the US.

The creation of the role is in line with efforts to establish a stronger presence in Asia, said the firm. Prior to Wells Fargo, Jones was the head of sales for the fixed income, commodities and currencies group of UBS in Asia-Pacific. He began his banking career at Deutsche Bank and also worked for Barclays Capital.

Wells Fargo Securities Asia deals with public debt and equity origination and distribution, investment research, interest rate, commodity and equity risk hedging, mergers and acquisitions advice, prime services, structured lending and municipal bond origination. Its offices in the region are located in Hong Kong and Japan.
