Research by WealthBriefing found that acquisitions in the wealth management sector grew by 62 per cent in 2005, compared with 2004. The rise, coupled with 10 mergers in 2005, shows that consolidation is gathering pace in the global wealth management sector. Altogether our research found a total of 91 acquisitions in the sector. An acquisition was deeded to have taken place in the sector when either it was purely wealth management, or where a considerable part of the business involved in the acquisition was in the wealth management arena. WealthBriefing’s findings are discussed in more detail in our Insight Feature today, entitled: Wealth Management Acquisitions Increase Rapidly in 2005.
