Wachovia appoints new head of insurance brokerage

A. Doss takes over from S. McDowell as chief of Wachovia Insurance Services. Wachovia Wealth Management has named Anne Doss as managing executive of its Insurance Services (WIS) business. She replaces Stewart McDowell, who is retiring.
"Anne's breadth of experience, along with her extensive understanding of Wachovia and her successful leadership surrounding bank cross-sell, makes her an excellent choice for this position," says Wachovia Wealth Management head Stanhope Kelly.
Stronger connections
Doss has been with Charlotte, N.C.-based Wachovia for 23 years, most recently as head of a WIS team that cross sells insurance to Wachovia's retail bank clients. Under her leadership, that business has increased more than 60% over the past year.
Before joining WIS, Doss filled senior positions in Wachovia's wealth-management, treasury services, electronic cash management and securities brokerage businesses. In 2001, she helped createand implement the Wachovia Client Partnership, a companywide program aimed at strengthening ties between Wachovia business lines -- an effort that, to date, has brought in about $750 million in incremental revenue, according to Wachovia.
Prior to joining WIS, she served in a variety of leadership roles at Wachovia in businesses such as Wealth Management, Treasury Services Electronic Cash Management and Securities brokerage. In 2001, she led the creation and implementation of the Wachovia Client Partnership, a companywide program that has generated by building stronger connections among the company's major lines of business.
Wachovia Wealth Management includes private banking, personal trust, investment advisory services, charitable services, financial planning and insurance brokerage.
