VP Bank Names New Chief Financial Officer

There are more C-suite changes at the banking group, which operates in a number of regions, including Asia.
Liechtenstein-headquartered VP Bank has appointed Roland
Kläy as the new chief financial officer, taking effect from 1
October. He will be filling a vacancy left by the departure last
June of Roger Barmettler. In recent months, Philippe Wüst has
served as interim CFO.
Kläy brings over two decades of experience in finance and risk
management. Most recently, he was co-founder and a member of the
executive management of radicant bank ag, where he had served as
chief financial and risk officer since its inception; he also
acted as co-CEO for a period.
Prior to this, Kläy held management positions at Aargauische
Kantonalbank, including deputy member of the executive board in
the finance and risk division and as chief risk officer. He began
his career at Ernst & Young, where he worked as a senior manager
in the banking audit division. He is a certified public
accountant and holds several advanced degrees, including in risk
management and financial mathematics. He studied business
administration at the University of Bern.
"With Roland Kläy, we are gaining a proven financial expert. His
entrepreneurial mindset and broad expertise will make an
important contribution to the implementation of our strategy,”
Urs Monstein, CEO of VP Bank, said. “At the same time, I would
like to thank Philippe Wüst for his strong commitment and
valuable contributions as interim CFO over the past few
months."
The appointment and planned assumption of duties on 1 October
2025 are subject to approval by the Liechtenstein Financial
Market Authority.
In May last year, Paul
Arni left as CEO after a five-year spell at the lender.
