Vanguard Asset Management Unveils Index Trackers

Vanguard Asset Management, a UK-based subsidiary of the Vanguard Group, has pushed into the exchange-traded fund market with five new funds.

The five physically-backed ETFs are the Vanguard FTSE 100 ETF, Vanguard S&P 500 ETF, Vanguard FTSE Emerging Markets ETF, Vanguard FTSE All-World ETF and Vanguard UK Government Bond ETF. They are domiciled in Ireland but the firm expects them to be admitted to trading on the London Stock Exchange shortly.

“At Vanguard, we see ETFs and traditional mutual funds as two sides of the same coin,” said Tom Rampulla, managing director of the asset management firm. “The Vanguard Group runs both its traditional funds and its ETFs using the same philosophy, process and people.”

The Vanguard Group has $2 trillion in assets globally.
