According to Chicago strategy consultants Spectrem Group wealthy US investors ended 2006 "mildly bullish" after a dip in confidence in November. The group's Affluent Investor Index, which measures the investment outlook of households with $500,000 or more investable assets, advanced eight points in December to end the year at 12, returning to mildly bullish territory for the first time since February 2006. The index recovered its upward momentum after giving up three points in November. The Spectrem Millionaire Investor Index also moved higher in December with a three point advance to 15. The index has been in mildly bullish territory for nine months of last year. Eighteen per cent of both the affluent group and the millionaires cited the economy as the greatest threat to their financial goals. Ranking immediately behind the economy for millionaires were the political climate (12 per cent) and inflation (8 per cent).
