US Family Office Opens in Australia

Lowenhaupt Global Advisors, based in St Louis, has opened an office in Sydney with Stuart Black as chief executive.

Lowenhaupt Global Advisors Australia will provide integrated family office services to Australian individuals and families seeking to manage intergenerational wealth. Partnering with local firms, it will provide independent advice on wealth transfer, taxation, estate planning and probate, investment portfolio allocation, business structuring and strategic philanthropy.

Mr Black has served as president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, and is a member of the Accounting Professional and Ethical Standards Board. He will work closely with Charles Lowenhaupt, a director of LGA Australia and chairman, chief executive and president of LGA in St Louis, Missouri. Sean Cortis, another Australian chartered accountant, will be chief operating officer.

Mr Black and Mr Cortis will continue their association with Australian accounting firm Chapman Eastway. Families coming to the new firm can continue to work with any of their existing advisors, including their accounting firm.

Mr Lowenhaupt said: " Australia is the first of our offices outside of the US because of the strong demand for family office services there and our unique partnership with Stuart Black."

In April, LGA announced the formation of a nine-member global council comprised of trusted advisors and family office professionals from around the world.
