HighTower, the Chicago-headquartered, advisor-owned financial services firm, has furthered its expansion with the recruitment of a raft of advisors from high-profile rivals, along with several new office launches.
Larry Gilbert, formerly of Goldman Sachs joins HighTower’s Chicago team, while in Michigan, Blair Anderson joins from UBS.
HighTower’s new office in Manhattan, New York will be lead by Richard Saperstein, formerly of Bear Stearns, and Michael Bapis, who had been with Morgan Stanley.
Nick Bapis, who was also previously at Morgan Stanley, will lead HighTower’s Salt Lake City, Utah office along with Alethia Bapis Chatzis.
HighTower’s office in Palm Beach, Florida opens with two new advisors: Curt Lyman, previously with Lehman Brothers, and David Wisehaupt, a Merrill Lynch veteran.
In California, Todd Lyon joins HighTower’s West Coast team from Morgan Stanley. HighTower has opened a corporate office in San Francisco and said it plans to significantly grow its presence in the California Bay area and into Southern California.
Finally, Tim Scannell, previously an independent advisor, brings his high net worth practice and team to HighTower’s Indiana office.
"Our advisors want the freedom of independence and the benefits of ownership without the distractions or risks of running their own business. It's the best of both worlds," said Elliot Weissbluth, HighTower’s chief executive.
