UK-Based Welrex Names New Chief Financial Officer

The business, which has been around for a relatively short time, says it is one of a crop of new firms transforming the way HNW and UHNW individuals are served.
UK-based Welrex, which
launched its end-to-end digital wealth management platform in
October 2022, has announced that its chief financial officer,
Jonathan O’Brien, has made a personal investment into the firm
six months after taking up the role.
O’Brien, who joined the business in October, succeeded Geoff
Carpenter as CFO. A fellow of the Institute of Chartered
Accountants and a graduate of the University of Exeter, O’Brien
brings more than three decades of experience across financial and
professional services, including senior roles at Boston
Consulting Group, Fidelity, Invesco and LGT. His career has
spanned the UK, Europe, Asia and the US.
The firm is changing the way in which independent
relationship managers serve UHNW clients, offering them a “more
agile, transparent and client-centric model,” it said in a
statement yesterday.
“Welrex is tackling an unmet need in the wealth management space,
giving top-tier relationship managers the freedom and tools to
run their own businesses, while helping UHNW clients access a
more dynamic and aligned investment experience,” O’Brien said.
“In just six months, I’ve seen the strength of the team, the
quality of the technology, and the real appetite for change in
the market. Backing the business personally was an easy
decision.”
