Salamanca Group, the London-based merchant banking and operational risk management business which expanded with a takeover earlier in 2014, has made a senior board appointment.

The firm has named Michael Giraud to the board of directors of Salamanca Group Trust & Fiduciary in Jersey. He brings 14 years of experience to his new role and is currently head of business development for the trust and fiduciary team in Jersey.

He previously worked in the Cayman Islands and Jersey for RBC Wealth Management where he was responsible for the administration of large complex structures and the sourcing of new business.

This year has so far been a busy one for Salamanca. At the end of January, it completed the acquisition of Investec Trust Group from Investec Bank after obtaining the necessary regulatory approvals.
