UK Wrap Platform To Offer Online Legal Services

Ascentric, the UK wrap platform, has taken the slightly unusual step of adding a suite of online legal products to its offering in a bid to plug the legal gaps which can make clients financial affairs go awry, like intestacy or incapacity.

The online legal products, which are supplied by Lex Futura, include lasting powers of attorney and wills and are available in standard, premier and bespoke versions to cater to the varying levels of complexity in each individual case. Each case is also reviewed by a solicitor to ensure that the appropriate work is carried out, the firms said in a statement.

It is currently the case that almost 70 per cent of UK adults don’t have a will in place; an unwillingness to tackle “the last taboo” often means that even extremely wealthy people neglect to put a will in place, lawyers have previously told this publication. Dying intestate can of course create huge problems for the deceased’s family, as well as casting doubt over whether their wishes will be observed when it comes to the division of their assets.

As Dominic Ventham, Ascentric’s head of marketing, notes: “The best financial planning can come to nothing if a client’s affairs are not properly protected if they fall ill or pass away.”
