UK Investment Society Renames to Align with US

The UK Society of Investment Professionals is to change its name to CFA Society of the UK. Just under 90 per cent of voting members supported the move. The name change was proposed in order to enhance the society’s standing and to identify better the society’s association with the US Chartered Financial Analyst Institute. Following research, the board concluded that it would be in the interest of all members to change the name of UK Society of Investment Professionals to CFA Society of the UK (abbreviated to CFA UK). The name change will be formally introduced on 1 January 2008 to allow time to amend online and offline marketing materials. In 2004, the Association for Investment Management and Reasearch changed its name to CFA Institute and since then most member societies globally have incorporated the letters CFA into their name. CFA Institute is the global membership association that administers the Chartered Financial Analyst and Certificate in Investment Performance Measurement curricula and exam programmes worldwide. It publishes research, conducts professional development programs and sets voluntary, ethics-based professional and performance-reporting standards for the investment industry. It has more than 96,000 members.
