UK Fund Manager Appoints Senior Industry Figure – More Hires To Follow

Recently launched TCF Fund Managers appointed David Somers as an independent member of its investment committee.
Mr Somers has about 30 years of experience in the business, TCF Fund Managers said in a statement yesterday. He sits on several pension trustee boards and holds the positions of chair of trustees and chair of the investment committee at the £300 million ($459 million) Doosan Babcock Energy final salary pension scheme.
He is also a non-executive director for Europe Arab Bank and ACE Europe Life.
Chaired by Gary Mairs, who co-launched the firm earlier this year, TCF Fund Managers’ investment committee provides oversight of the multi-asset investment process of the firm. In particular, the committee is responsible for the due diligence process used to research ETFs and passive mutual funds.
The committee also reviews the investment performance of individual sub-funds providing feedback to allow potential enhancement of the investment process and provides oversight to ensure individual funds are managed in accordance with their investment objectives.
“It is a privilege to have someone with David’s credentials and strong industry endorsement agreeing to join our investment committee. His knowledge, experience and independence add real weight to the wider TCF Fund Managers proposition,” Mr Mairs said.
TCF Fund Managers added that it was expecting to make further hires to its investment committee.
