UK Alternative Investment Manager Hires From Industry Leader

Oakley Alternative Investment Management, the London-based specialist alternative asset manager which is part of Oakley Capital, has appointed hedge fund investor Teun Johnston as a portfolio manager.
Mr Johnston previously co-headed investments at Amundi AI, formerly known as Credit Agricole Asset Management Alternative Investments.
Together with Nick Hannan, the firm's chief investment officer, and Christopher Parkinson, a portfolio manager, Mr Johnston will continue developing the scope of Oakley’s investment function and business, the firm said in a statement.
Mr Johnston joined Amundi AI in December 2000, where he focused on the initial and on-going due-diligence of European- and Asian-based hedge fund managers before he was appointed co-head of investments in 2009. He has also been head of Amundi AI’s London office since 2006.
“It is significant that someone of Teun’s calibre has moved from a $13 billion industry leader to a boutique fund manager such as Oakley, attracted by the possibility of working with a more nimble organisation, which has the talent and expertise to continue its expansion,” said Mr Hannan.
Since expanding the institutional investor base in 2009, Oakley Alternative Investment Management has seen its assets under management rise from $105 million in January 2009 to $250 million at the beginning of this month.
