UK's Polar Capital Launches Global Financials Investment Trust

Specialist investment firm Polar Capital is launching a UK-listed Global Financials investment trust which will be managed by Nick Brind and John Yakas.
The Polar Capital Global Financials Trust is aiming to raise in excess of £100 million ($151.9 million) through a placing and will be listed on the London Stock Exchange at the end of June.
The trust will invest in a diversified global portfolio of equity, debt and other securities of listed financial stocks and 90 per cent of fund will be allocated to equities, the firm said in a statement.
Despite having been out of favour with investors over the last six years, Polar Capital said the financials sector was now recovering and provided significant investment opportunities.
The firm also sees a yield opportunity and expects a major catalyst for the sector will be a return or re-basing of bank dividends.
Polar Capital's group assets under management stood at $6.02 billion at the end of December last year, representing an 18 per cent rise from 31 March 2012 and a rise of 42 per cent from a year before.
Floated on the UK stock market since 2007, the firm was founded in 2001 and has 84 employees of whom 43 are investment professionals managing 18 funds, and five managed accounts.
