Edinburgh-based specialist global equities manager Aubrey Capital Management has appointed former Rathbones investment director Chris Sutton to spearhead its private client push.

Sutton joins the private client division, headed by Barry McCorkell and Simon Milne, to lead the firm's private client offering.

He was previously an investment director and deputy to the regional director at Rathbones's Edinburgh office and was responsible for the discretionary management of private client investments. He was also a member of the strategic asset allocation and collectives research committees and helped oversee the selection of indirect commercial property investments for the company.

Sutton joined Rathbones in 1996 and was part of the team that helped to build the £450 million ($504 million) SIPP and private client business.

Aubrey Capital Management was founded in Edinburgh in 2006 as a global investment boutique by Andrew Dalrymple, Barry McCorkell, Sharon Bentley-Hamlyn and Lynne Thornton. Aubrey is in part backed by Treasury Group, the listed Australian specialist investment and financial services business.

Aubrey Capital Management have seen funds under management reach £350 million ($587.4 million) in the past year.

These are divided between the global equity funds run by Aubrey founder Andrew Dalrymple and his team of international analysts, Sharon Bentley-Hamlyn’s European fund, and the private client offering headed by Barry McCorkell and Simon Milne.
