UK's Anderson Strathern AM Names New Managing Director

The new MD brings more than 35 years’ experience in financial services and is a recognised leader in her field as both a former Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI) president for Scotland and CISI Mentor of the Year 2025

Anderson Strathern Asset Management has appointed Arlene Ewing (pictured) as managing director as it plans to grow its team and services across Scotland.

Ewing brings more than 35 years’ experience in financial services and is a recognised leader in her field as both a former Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI) president for Scotland and CISI Mentor of the Year 2025.

Her appointment comes at a time of significant change in the wealth management sector with the rise of artificial intelligence and investment technologies coupled with changes to laws affecting estate planning, the firm said.

Ewing will oversee ASAM’s dual-led model combining financial planning and discretionary fund management, a structure offered by few firms in Scotland, the firm said. She thinks that a rising trend for sector consolidation is leaving many people feeling underserved by large firms and clients, so they now looking for a more bespoke offering.

“This is set to be another challenging year for many individuals who are anxious to know how to plan and protect the futures of themselves and their families. Like many sectors, the rapid development of modern technology means we have impressive tools and solutions to help manage assets, but ultimately human expertise is what people want – and it is what we prioritise at ASAM,” Ewing said.

Her appointment brings the ASAM team up to 21 including financial advisors, fund managers and support staff working with clients across Scotland. Services include financial planning, pensions, protection, estate planning, and inheritance tax advice, as well as investment management and discretionary fund management.
