UBS Wealth Management Americas Adds New Role To Broaden Research

UBS Wealth Management Americas has named Mike Ryan, head of wealth management research, as chief investment strategist a new role. The mandate of the new CIS office is to broaden content and enhance the distribution of research to financial advisors and clients, according to an internal memo seen by Family Wealth Report.

“In addition to his role as head of WMR, Mike will now be responsible for bringing together market and wealth management research from multiple sources, such as global asset management, the investment bank and third parties, and packaging it so that it is most impactful for our FAs and their clients,” penned John Brown, head of wealth management solutions, in the memo.

Ryan reports to Brown.

"Wealth management research and the new CIS office enable UBS Wealth Management Americas to define ourselves as the unique provider of the best intelligence and investment insight tailored for private clients. The entire Wealth Management Research team is an integral component of the value proposition we deliver to these clients," Robert McCann, chief executive officer of UBS Wealth Management Americas, said in a statement.

The US wealth management unit of Swiss banking giant UBS has experienced a turnaround in the last year with net new money flows increasing and the attrition rate for advisors who generate $1 million or more in annual production falling to 4.7 per cent in the third quarter this year compared to 20.8 per cent last year.
