UBS is setting up an internal wealth management training centre in Singapore, reflecting the need to have more qualified wealth managers to service the growing number of high net worth individuals in the Asia Pacific region. The centre will be accredited by Singapore's Institute of Banking & Finance and is expected to open in the first quarter of next year. UBS plan to train around 5,000 existing and future UBS wealth management staff in the years running up to 2010. The campus will be situated in the historic Command House at 17 Kheam Hock Road, off Dunearn Road in Singapore. "The UBS Wealth Management Campus is a landmark project for UBS in its expansion in this region, as well as for Singapore's aspiration as a key centre for wealth management and quality education," said Ong Chong Tee, Deputy Managing Director, Monetary Authority of Singapore, at a recent wealth management conference in Singapore. "I understand that the campus will be training talent that UBS is recruiting from all over Asia, to prepare for its expansion in the region. The campus will also be embarking on leadership and management education. It is even more significant that the campus will serve as a centre of excellence for research and innovation in wealth management. This will add to the richness of financial research activities in Singapore."
