UBS launches a new exchange-traded fund on the Swiss Leader Index

UBS launches a new exchange-traded fund on the Swiss Leader Index UBS has expanded its range of UBS Exchange Traded Funds (UBS ETFs) with the launch of UBS-ETF SLI Swiss Leader Index® (UBS-ETF SLI, sec. no. 3 291 273). Units of UBS-ETF SLI® are now available for trading on the Swiss Exchange uring normal market hours. The investment fund and trading currency is CHF. In July 2007 the SWX Swiss Exchange introduced a new equity index – the SLI Swiss Leader Index. This new index is comprised of the 30 most liquid and largest stocks in the Swiss stock market. The four stocks with the largest weighting are capped at a maximum 9% of the index, while the cap for all other stocks in the SLI is 4.5%. The cap offers investors a better stock and sector diversification. The index structure fulfils regulatory requirements in Switzerland, the EU and the United States, which means it will be possible to attract investors in other markets. An investment in the new UBS-ETF allows investors to participate in the performance of the 30 largest stocks of the Swiss equity market contained in the SLI Swiss Leader Index. With the launch of the UBS-ETF SLI, UBS now has ten ETFs listed on the SWX Swiss Exchange. Since 2001 investors have placed more than CHF 3.3 billion in UBS-ETFs quoted internationally on major stock exchanges (as at 31 August 2007). UBS Exchange Traded Funds combine the best features of investment funds and stocks. Investors can purchase units in an investment fund that replicates the composition of an index. Units are listed on one or more stock exchanges and can be traded like stocks during normal trading hours. In addition to these advantages, ETFs offer complete investor protection as is standard for investment funds approved for public distribution.
