UBS Wealth Management UK has launched an iPad app designed to
help charities understand their investment portfolios,
highlighting continued use of such apps by private banks.
The app offers a broad economic analysis and features UBS Wealth
Management’s Charities Compendium, which is a guide covering
investment opportunities that may be suitable for charities,
UBS said in a statement
late last week.
At a time when charity trustees are facing increasing challenges
amid tougher regulation, greater media scrutiny and changing
relationship with the government, the UBS Charity Compendium is
designed to put charities in closer contact with their
investments.
The app deals with areas such as sustainable investing; equities
that offer long-term returns; bonds, and real estate and
alternative investments. The app also considers new investment
opportunities and includes information on regulatory changes,
economic analysis, and industry updates. The appropriate time to
make investments and how charities can curb risks are a point of
focus.
UBS Wealth Management’s chief executive, Jamie Broderick is
featured on the app’s video content. There is a contents page
that will help for efficient use and book marking. Users will
also be able to contact UBS Wealth Management, provide feedback,
and the compendium’s content can be read offline.
“We believe that the Compendium meets the increasing need for
trustees to be up to speed on the risks their charity faces. Our
app addresses the increased challenges facing charitable
organisations, which have intensified after the financial crash,”
said Andrew Wauchope, head of charities, UBS Wealth Management.
Along with being published in the fourth edition of the NCVO Good
Financial Management Guide, a publication aimed at the voluntary
sector, the changes charities have faced during recent years are
highlighted in the app. UBS Wealth Management sponsors the
guide.
