UBS Expands UK HNW Team With Senior Private Banker Hire

Joining from Nedbank, the newly-appointed figure will work with HNW clients in the UK and Channel Islands.

UBS Global Wealth Management has appointed Alex Clayton as a client advisor in its high net worth (HNW) team in London.

Clayton was previously at Nedbank Private Wealth, where he served as a private banker managing a book of high net worth clients, many with international exposure and UK connections.

In his new role, Clayton will work with HNW individuals and families across the UK and Channel Islands.

“On behalf of UBS, I’m excited to welcome Alex to the firm,” Michel Frey, head of UK HNW at UBS Global Wealth Management, said in a statement. “His experience and knowledge in advising high net worth clients who have both UK and international exposure makes him a great fit for our business.”

Clayton began his financial services career at Handelsbanken in 2014, before joining Nedbank Private Wealth in 2016 as a private banking assistant. He later worked in the UK domestic private banking team at Kleinwort Hambros, before returning to Nedbank in 2022 as a private banker.

He holds a degree in business management from Coventry University and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI).

UBS said the appointment reflects its strategic focus on hiring top talent to support its high-touch advisory model and expand its HNW footprint in key UK regions.
