UBP Appoints New Dubai Senior Executive Officer

The new SEO – subject to regulatory clearance – comes from Credit Suisse, where he worked in the bank's Qatar branch; he has been in the sector for more than two decades.

Geneva-headquartered Union Bancaire Privée has appointed a new senior executive officer for its Dubai office, subject to regulatory approval, it announced today.

The appointee, who is former Credit Suisse figure Arfat Qayyum (pictured below), is succeeding Mohamed Shoukry.

Arfat Qayyum

Qayyum brings more than 20 years’ experience in financial services, working in North America and the Middle East. Previously, he worked at Credit Suisse’s Qatar branch, most recently as CEO. Before this, Qayyum was head of private banking and wealth management at Al Khalij Commercial Bank, with Qatar and UAE responsibilities.

In his new role, Qayyum will report to Walid Shash and Mohamed Abdellatif, co-heads of the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region.

“As SEO of the Dubai office, his mission will be to drive UBP’s growth ambitions in the MEA region, where we continue to see strong demand from UHNWIs, institutional clients, and family offices for bespoke wealth management and investment solutions. He will focus on expanding our local investment capabilities and enhancing our range of Sharia compliant solutions,” UBP said in a statement.
