Two From One as Guernsey Firm Splits

A parting of the ways at Guernsey law firm Collas Day has resulted in the formation of two new firms. Richard Ogier, Chris Bound, Ian Kirk, Sean Cheong, Jason Green and Patrick Palmer have formed a new firm that will continue the Collas Day name. In an accompanying move, Christian Hay, who joined the firm in 2003, has been promoted to partner. Mark Ferbrache and Paul Richardson have formed a new firm under the name AFR Advocates. A spokesman told WealthBriefing that there had been differences of opinion about the way the former partnership should be run, in particular about bringing staff through to partnership, so that it became apparent that it would be better to work independently than to continue to try to reconcile opposing views. According to the spokesman, clients have been understanding and supportive throughout and there has been very little impact in terms of clients and instructions. Recent new joiners include a wife and husband team, both lawyers, one in commercial and one in private client: Joy Albright – focusing on corporate, acquisition and project finance - and Theo Albright, focusing on trusts.
