Thomson Financial has launched a bundled desktop "solution" aimed at European wealth managers. The application will bring together portfolio management capabilities with data and information services, designed to help automate managers' workflow. Thomson said the technology will be marketed at relationship managers, fund managers, portfolio managers, compliance and senior management. Julian Chaffey, European wealth management director, Thomson Financial, told WealthBriefing: "There are two core services that are found on every wealth manager's desktop: a portfolio management system of some kind, and a market data service, be that from Thomson, Reuters, or whoever. We can see the benefit of bringing these services under a single supplier. It is something that we do not believe is being replicated by anyone else." Thomson Financial will embed technology created by Business Architects called eXimius, which acts like an engine, as a white label within the Thomson ONE framework. The automated system can handle financial planning, including life event goals and other client investment requirements. Mr Chaffey emphasised the due diligence and compliance elements of the technology: "Certainly it is Financial Services Authority approved. Indeed Business Architects have built a system attuned to all Europe's varying jurisdictions and regulatory nuances." Thomson has already rolled-out a version of the wealth management system to 23,000 workstations at Merrill Lynch offices worldwide.
