UK stockbroker Teather & Greenwood has received a takeover bid, according to sources close to the firm. A number of firms have been mentioned as potential buyers, including the two Iceland finance firms Landsbanki and Kaupting, as well as US firms Robert W Baird, Houlihan Lokey Howard & Zukin or William Blair. Teather sold most of its private client business in 2002 to Dryden Wealth Management, the US wealth manager owned by Prudential Financial. The potential acquisition follows a number of other bids currently in play in the UK stockbroker sector. Rensberg's merger with Henderson Crosthwaite, owned by Investec, has attracted a counter-offer from Rathbones while Durlacher is looking to merge with Panmure, the broking offshoot of Lazard.
