The Dreyfus Corporation Ushers In New CIO

The Dreyfus Corporation, a subsidiary of BNY Mellon and part of its Asset Management business, has appointed Christopher Sheldon as chief investment officer, replacing Phil Maisano, who retired earlier this year.
Sheldon joined BNY Mellon in 1995 and was most recently managing director of the firm’s wealth management business on the West Coast. It is not clear as yet who replaces him in this role. He will spend the next few months transitioning to his new position, officially taking it up on 1 November.
New York City-based Dreyfus was established in 1951 and manages around $400 billion in mutual funds and separately managed accounts. The merger with Mellon Bank Corporation was completed in 1994, with the firm becoming a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mellon Financial Corporation, which went on to merge with Bank of New York in 2007.
