Taiwan Bank Inks MoU With Japan Lender

CTBC Financial Holding, the Taiwanese bank, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Japan's Miyazaki Bank as the former seeks to move into the Japanese market.

Under the terms of the deal, the two firms will work together to enhance corporate banking and financial advisory capabilities, which include the creation of an alternative funding channel for corporate clients by CTBC.

CTBC Financial used to operate under the name Chinatrust Financial Holding, while CTBC Bank, its flagship business, was known as Chinatrust Commercial Bank. The agreement with Miyazaki is the company's fourth partnership with a Japanese bank in 2013, the other three being Shizuoka Bank, Singinko Tokyo and Bank of Kyoto.

In a statement, CTBC said that Taiwan has served as a springboard for foreign investors looking to enter the Chinese market since Taipei and Beijing signed an economic cooperationg deal in 2010.
