Sweden's SEB Says CEO, President Has Resigned For Personal, Family Reasons

The Swedish bank has a substantial private wealth management and family office business in the Nordic region alongside its corporate and investment banking franchise.
Johan Torgeby (main photo) has resigned as president and chief executive of SEB, the Swedish bank, for personal and family reasons, it announced yesterday.
Torgeby stepped down on 6 October 2026, when he also left the bank's board.
The board has appointed Jonas Ahlström, deputy president and chief executive, as acting president and chief executive, subject to regulatory approval. SEB said it will begin searching for a permanent successor.
Ahlström, who joined SEB in 2005, has sat on its group executive committee since 2020.
Torgeby led the Stockholm-based bank for almost 10 years. He joined SEB in 2009 and served in several senior roles, including co-head of the former large corporates and financial institutions division. He joined the group executive committee in 2014.
His resignation came without notice and with no permanent successor named, leaving SEB under interim leadership at the top while it recruits externally or internally. The bank, which counts the Wallenberg family's Investor AB as its largest shareholder, has a substantial private wealth management and family office business in the Nordic region alongside its corporate and investment banking franchise.
