Standard Asset Management, the investment management division of Standard Bank has completed a six month transition process to transfer its Miami based operations to the UK, whilst streamlining its product line to play to its stated strengths as a high yield and emerging market bond boutique. Kevin Colglazier, the recently promoted chief investment officer at Standard Asset Management said: “Having a team in Miami was useful as it provided a great vantage point into Latin America, which is a core region for any global emerging market fund manager. However, having previously managed teams in different time zones, I have generally found that a centralised investment team is more efficient for the whole asset management process. “By relocating two of our key investment professionals, we have retained their talents and background but they now work more closely with the larger team, which means that the idea generation and reaction is far more fluid.” The firm has retained an investor relations presence in New York, which provides sales and marketing support to its potential and existing client base.
