Squire Sanders Opens Singapore Office

Squire Sanders, the international law firm based in Ohio, is expanded its reach in Asia with a new Singapore office.

The Singapore Attorney-General's Chambers granted the company a license to operate in the city, where it will represent multinational corporations, governments and banks on major infrastructure projects, including public-private partnerships, cross-border transactions, international arbitration, financing and restructurings. The local team will be led by Ignatius Hwang who will be supported by three lawyers.

The launch of the Singapore office is a milestone in the firm's Asian expansion plan, it said in a statement. In February, Squire Sanders opened an office in Hong Kong and said it also has plans to establish a presence in Korea.

"Singapore provides a gateway to other rapidly growing economies such as Indonesia and India," said James Maiwurm, chairman and global chief executive of Squire Sanders.

The firm's other Asian offices are located in Tokyo, Beijing, Shanghai and Perth in Australia.
