SG Private Banking Acquires Canadian Wealth Manager

SG Private Banking agreed to acquire 100 per cent of Calgary-based Canadian Wealth Management which has C$ 650 million in assets under management. The acquisition, subject to regulatory approval, is expected to be finalised in January 2008. The wealth management arm of the Société Générale Group says that beyond the opportunity to expand its client portfolio, this acquisition reflects its ambitions to further its international expansion. It will strengthen Société Générale Group’s business in Canada, where it is already present through its corporate and investment banking activities said the Paris-based bank in a statement.
