SFC updates licensing process

Hong Kong's Securities and Futures Commission has notified all licensees and registered institutions of new licensing-related measures which take effect today.

Before today, only the responsible officers of licensed corporations and the executive officers of registered institutions were allowed to submit notifications to the SFC on the regulator's online portal. From now on, both directors of licensed corporations or registered institutions and persons authorised by their boards of directors will also be able to submit corporate notifications and annual returns.

Before now, physical letters of approval were delivered to all individual licence applicants by post. To improve efficiency and be more environmentally friendly, the SFC will only send approval letters electronically to the email addresses provided by licence applicants, with copies to the office email addresses of the principal licensed corporations with which they are affiliated.
