Scots Private Client Lawyer Opens London Office

Turcan Connell, the Edinburgh-based solicitor and asset manager which acts for a number of landowners, entrepreneurs and other high-profile figures in Scotland, has opened an office in London's Mayfair. Turcan Connell already has an office in Guernsey, but decided to open in London to serve an increasingly international client base. The London presence will give the firm's investment managers closer contact with City fund managers. Turcan Connell also has an investment and financial planning arm that manages over £500 million ($1 billion) for clients on a discretionary basis. Joint senior partner Douglas Connell said: "Scotland has traditionally had a separate legal system from the rest of the UK, and since devolution the volume of new legislation north of the border has increased dramatically. Turcan Connell's London presence is designed to bring the firm closer to clients who own property or have interests in Scotland but do not live there. Almost 10 per cent of our clients live in London and the Home Counties, and a further 5 per cent live overseas."
