Schroders Hires New Global Head, Boosts Equities Team

London headquartered asset manager Schroders has appointed Alex Tedder head of global equities.
London-headquartered asset manager Schroders has appointed Alex
Tedder head of global equities.
He officially starts in June, joining from American Century
Investments where he was senior vice president and co-head of
global and non-US large cap strategies - managing a 15 strong
team and $21 billion of assets.
Tedder will takeover from current equities head Peter Harrison
and be responsible for business management and strategic
planning. He will also lead the team and drive the development of
the team’s franchise.
Simon Webber, lead portfolio manager global equities, retains his
investment focus, working to ensure that client portfolios
benefit from the team’s research capabilities and high-conviction
idea generation.
There will be no change to the team’s investment style or the
main elements of the investment process, the firm added.
“Alex is a strong investor with 20 years’ experience and is
an excellent cultural fit with our existing global equities team,
consisting of eight global sector specialists and two portfolio
managers,” said Peter Harrison, global head of equities.
Tedder is seen as the official replacement for former equities
head Virginie Maisonneuve who left Schroders to join US fund
giant Pimco at the end of last year.
In February this year Schroders launched a new fund, the Schroder
ISF1 QEP Global Value Plus.
The long/short global equity fund is managed by the Schroders QEP
investment team and is part of its QEP Global Value Extension
strategy.
The strategy can invest up to 150 per cent long value stocks and
up to 50 per cent short low quality stocks, in addition to
targeting +5 per cent in comparison to its benchmark. With
existing clients transferring to the new fund, the Schroder ISF
QEP Global Value Plus opened with over $500 million of assets
under management.
