Sarasin Hires Private Banking Chief In Basel

Switzerland’s Bank Sarasin has appointed Lukas Stueckelberger as head of private banking in Basel.
Stueckelberger returned to the Swiss bank in 2008 after two years in various functions at Swiss Bank Corporation and UBS. Before that, he worked for Sarasin and between 2003 and 2006, he was head of the investment consulting and business development arm for the regions of North and Central Switzerland. In 2006, he assumed responsibility for the high net worth private clients business in the Basel region.
In his new role, he reports to Werner Rueegg, location head for Basel and head of private banking for Switzerland. He will be supported by Rolf Muggli as his deputy.
Sarasin said in a statement that the new management structure serving clients from north-western Switzerland is part of an optimisation of private banking in Basel. Other changes include hires to a unit for special clients, headed by Martin Kindler.
The bank also said that all client relationship managers will be supported by the investment consulting team with Raphael Benz as new chief, and that additional members will be added to this team in the coming months.
Sarasin had client assets of SFr96.4 billion ($101 billion) and employed approximately 1,700 staff at the end of last year.
