Cape Town-headquartered Sanlam Private Investments has appointed Ian Porter as head of wealth management - a newly-created role in which he is charged with expanding the firm's UK wealth management footprint.

Porter spent the past five years as head of wealth management at Alexander Forbes Wealth, having previously been associate director and head of retirement solutions at Heartwood Wealth Management. He has also served as a private client advisor at HSBC Private Clients and as a senior consultant at Sedgwick Financial Services.

Sanlam Private Investments has some £10 billion (around $16.3 billion) in assets under management and administration from a 30,000-strong client base.
