Sanlam Securities UK, the corporate finance and broking arm of Sanlam Private Investments, has appointed Mark Cartlich as property analyst as part of the firm's wider expansion plans.

Sanlam Securities UK, the corporate finance and broking arm of Sanlam Private Investments, has appointed Mark Cartlich as a property analyst as part of the firm's wider expansion plans.

He will join the Sanlam Securities UK small cap research team to focus on the property and infrastructure sectors, Sanlam said in a statement.

Cartlich joins from Hardman Research, where he redesigned the research product and played a key role in marketing investment research to institutions and managers.

For 15 years he was at ING in London, where he headed up the EMEA real estate research team. He headed up the property team at Nomura and most recently worked at Religare and Edison.

“The expansion of its sales and research capability is the first step in a much wider strategy which is focused on growing our corporate client base in terms both of client numbers and market cap. SSUK already has a strong client list and we believe it has an exciting future ahead of it is one of the few such companies to enjoy the backing of a strong international parent,” said Craig Massey, CEO of Sanlam Private Investments

This latest appointment comes following the recent hire of Adrian Kearsey as head of small cap research. Kearsey's role involves expanding and developing small cap research and he will also lead the existing team which currently focuses primarily on the technology, consumer and leisure, oil and gas and mining and minerals sectors, the firm said in a statement.

This publication recently spoke to Massey about Sanlam's expansion in the UK. For more on this story, click here.
