Russian Investment Firm Third Rome Hires Senior Partner

Third Rome, the Russian-based investment management company founded by Andrei Movchan, the founder and ex-CEO of Renaissance Investment Management, has appointed Evgeny Kogan as senior partner.

In his new role, Mr Kogan will be responsible for working with Third Rome's large clients as well as overseeing trade operations management.

Prior to joining Third Rome, Mr Kogan was managing director and managing partner at Antana Capital for six years. Before this he was head of client relations at Prema, the investment management subsidiary of Centrinvest Group. Mr Kogan’s career also includes having been a senior investment advisor at Union Bank of Israel for five years.

Mr Kogan’s appointment marks an important stage in Third Rome’s plans to form a market-leading of professionals in the Russian and CIS markets, said Mr Movchan, Third Rome’s managing partner, in a statement. He added that Mr Kogan’s experience in the area of customer services in trade operations, especially in small cap shares would be a particular valuable contribution to the firm’s development.

Mr Movchan left Renaissance Investment Management early in the year to set up Third Rome, recruiting 30 former RIM employees. Third Rome already has $200 million in assets under management from RIM’s clientele, according to some media reports.

At the end of September Renaissance Group launched a new private banking business which, it has been suggested in media reports, was intended as an “answer” to Mr Movchan’s Third Rome.
