Royal Bank of Canada has appointed Wyn James to head a private banking initiative to grow the bank’s business in Asia. The new position represents a joint venture between the bank’s private banking operations and its capital markets business. Mr James will be responsible for developing the bank’s business in the region by having much greater access to capital markets’ products such as structured products, hedge funds and derivatives. Mr James was previously based in London for RBC. He joined the Canadian bank in 2003 as director of private client services in London. Prior to joining RBC, Mr James spent seven years in Asia, based first in Hong Kong and then Singapore as a private banker with Coutts.
