RBC Capital Markets Bolsters Asia Fixed Income and Currency Team

RBC Capital Markets has announced two senior appointments to
its Asia fixed income and currency team.
Mike Bass, formerly the head of commodities in Singapore for
Standard Chartered Bank, was named head of fixed income and
currencies for Asia (ex-Japan).
Mark Otis Zownir, previously the head of yen rates trading at
Citi in Tokyo, has been named head of US dollar rates trading for
Asia. Both gentlemen will be assuming managing director positions
and will be based in Hong Kong.
"We have previously operated with a head of FIC Japan and head of
FIC Australia, but we did not have a sufficient critical level of
business or client contacts to justify such a senior-level
appointment in Hong Kong. We certainly do now and hence the new
post," said Harry Samuel, the co-head of FIC and regional head of
global markets, in a statement.
The company is eyeing Hong Kong to become its main trading hub
for its US dealership in Asia and key platform for emerging
markets activities. RBC Capital Markets is the corporate and
investment banking unit of the Royal Bank of Canada.
