RBC Brewin Dolphin Makes Regional Hires, Promotions

This hires reflect the continuing trend of UK and international wealth management firms expanding their regional footprints.

UK wealth management house RBC Brewin Dolphin has bolstered its client-facing teams with the appointment of four wealth managers across its London, Cambridge and Cardiff offices. In addition, the company has made two head of office promotions in its Marlborough and Shrewsbury offices.

Mursal Ali and Tom Kieldsen are joining the London office as wealth managers, Neil Trickett is joining as a wealth manager in the Cambridge office, and Emily Tarrant as a wealth manager in the Cardiff office.

Ali has more than 14 years of experience in wealth management. He specialises in providing investment advice to high net worth individuals and families, nurturing long-term client relationships. Prior to joining RBC Brewin Dolphin, Ali worked at Barclays Private Bank and Barclays Wealth Management where he managed a portfolio of clients, including entrepreneurs, business owners and corporate executives.

Kieldsen (pictured below) has almost a decade of financial planning expertise. His previous tenures include financial planning roles at UBP and its previous incarnation, SG Kleinwort Hambros as well as at Vanguard and Nutmeg.

Tarrant (pictured below) will work with private clients, families and business owners. Prior to joining RBC Brewin Dolphin she worked as a financial planner at a partner practice of M&G Wealth Advice and as an investment executive at the Development Bank of Wales.

Trickett (pictured below) specialises in providing tax-efficient investment management strategies to private clients and families with varied backgrounds, including entrepreneurs, businessowners, professionals and those with intergenerational family wealth. He also manages corporate and charity clients in Cambridge and East Anglia. Trickett is returning to RBC Brewin Dolphin after a 12-year career there as an investment manager. Prior to joining back, he worked at Cambridge-based firms, NW Brown and Evelyn Partners (formerly Tilney).

In addition, RBC Brewin Dolphin has promoted Simon Bird (pictured below) to head of its Marlborough office following Stephen Depla’s decision to step down as head of office and become a consultant for the company. Bird, who has been with the company for over 15 years, started his career in the City and spent 11 years in Amsterdam trading options.

Mike Williams (pictured below) has been promoted to head of the Shrewsbury office following David Hall’s decision to step down as head of office after 15 years to focus on his wealth manager role within the Shrewsbury office. Williams, who joined RBC Brewin Dolphin as a director in 2019, has 29 years of industry experience, including stints at Barclays, HSBC and Evelyn Partners (formerly Tilney).

The new appointments follow several wealth manager hires at RBC Brewin Dolphin in 2025, which included Jack Benton and Gordon Parsons-Wallace joining the Glasgow office, Wayne Newlands joined the Truro office, Rhiannon Murray and James Stewart-Lockhart joined the Edinburgh office and Justine Lobel, Jamie Regan, Aisling Wilson and Rupert Gorman joined the London office.
