RBC Appoints Co-Chief Executives For Europe Business

The new co-CEOs, already employed at the bank, are part of a build-out of its services, the group said. The roles are newly created.
Royal
Bank of Canada has appointed two co-CEOs for its RBC Europe
Limited business.
The co-leaders, whose roles are newly created, are Sian
Hurrell and Robin Beer, the Canadian bank told
WealthBriefing when asked about the matter.
In their expanded roles, Hurrell and Beer will set the strategic
direction across the region, RBC said in a statement yesterday.
They will also be responsible for the governance and regulatory
oversight for RBC's capital markets and wealth management
activities in Europe.
Hurrell and Beer will keep their existing roles as head of
capital markets for Europe and head of global sales and
relationship management and CEO of RBC Wealth Management Europe,
respectively.
"After many years of building and investment, we are ready to
accelerate our growth ambitions in Europe," Derek Neldner, group
head, RBC Capital Markets, said. "We have three strong European
businesses, a trusted reputation, enviable financial strength and
top talent. By working cohesively across the region, we will use
our combined scale to empower growth, serve more clients and win
market share."
The group has expanded, for example via its 2022 acquisition
of UK wealth management firm Brewin Dolphin.
"With the integration of RBC Brewin Dolphin, the UK and
Europe are an important part of our global growth ambitions and
we’re focused on building our presence in the market," Neil
McLaughlin, group head, RBC Wealth Management, said.
