Punjab National Bank To Launch 20 Next Gen Branches

Punjab National Bank, India's second-largest state-owned commercial bank, is poised to launch the first of 20 new branches built for young customers throughout India in October this year, Business Standard reports.
The first Gen Next branch will be opened in Lucknow, Hyderabad, with the rest to follow shortly within the year across major cities in the country. The branches will be equipped with modern technology and feature mobile offerings that are in line with the lifestyle and interests of today's youth. Among the amenities of Gen Next branches are an Internet zone, a books corner, and a gadgets station.
"To cater to different customer segments, we have planned to provide a traders' lounge, an HNI (high net worth individual) lounge and a privilege lounge in our branches. We will open where the youth is most tech savvy and upwardly mobile," Usha Ananthasubramanian, executive director of PNB, was quoted as saying.
The bank is reportedly planning on opening around 400 branches over the next year. It is currently in the process of hiring 6,500 clerical staff.
