Private Client Firm Berkeley Law Aims For Early-Mover Gains With Latin America Office

Berkeley Law, the London-based law firm specialising advising high-net-worth individuals in the UK and overseas, has launched Berkeley LatAm, via a joint venture with South American practitioner Colin Maltby.

Berkeley Law, the London-based law firm specialising advising high-net-worth individuals in the UK and overseas, has launched Berkeley LatAm, via a joint venture with South American practitioner Colin Maltby, a qualified lawyer, private banker and wealth specialist.

Based in Buenos Aires in Argentina and Montevideo in Uruguay, Berkeley LatAm acts for and advises South American and international high and ultra-high net worth individuals and families, their advisors, and the institutions who work for them, including their family offices.

Berkeley Law currently has a team of 33 individuals in its London office and was created in 2010.

“Over the past couple of years we’d been working with an increasing number of South America-based clients and international clients with interests in this market.  It’s an extremely interesting and exciting market, with enormous potential and we wanted to be able to offer clients the full breadth of expertise, both on a local and international level, to service their advisory needs,” Nick Rucker, partner at the firm, said.

“We see South America as an untapped market in terms of access to high quality wealth advisory,” he said.
