Polar Capital Launches North American Fund

Following the hiring of Andrew Holliman and Richard Wilson in August 2011, London AIM-listed investment manager Polar Capital will launch a North American fund on 15 November.

The fund is a Dublin-domiciled UCITS all-cap long-only equity product that will typically hold between 40 and 60 stocks.

Holliman joined from Threadneedle, where he was manager of the $2.5 billion Threadneedle American Fund. Wilson also joined from Threadneedle where he was deputy fund manager of that fund.

“Despite the US market being notoriously efficient at assimilating information, we find numerous entrenched behavioural inefficiencies which our investment process and philosophy takes advantage of. These inefficiencies include an increasingly short-term investment horizon from most market participants, a focus on short-term top line growth rather than normalised and sustainable cash profits, and the tendency to overpay for short-term growth,” said Holliman.
