Personal Security Firm For Ultra-Wealthy Individuals Taps NYPD For Talent

Insite Security, a personal security firm for wealthy individuals, has added two security directors to its team.

Bobby Zisel joins the firm as senior consultant of corporate investigations, working on due diligence procedures and background screening for high net worth individuals and corporations. Prior to his move to Insite, Zisel served as a detective sergeant of the New York City Police Department's Joint Terrorism Task Force.

Meanwhile, the security firm has brought in Howard Shapiro as chief technology officer, with overall responsibility for security systems, design and integration practices for its client base. Shapiro will head up efforts to assess and create customized services for HNW clients including alarm systems, access control systems, infrared video, video systems, and voice and data network installations.

Shapiro previously worked as a consultant on large transit operations, for firms including Ziff Brothers, Siemens Transportation and BCI.

Risks inherent in UHNW individuals’ lifestyles – such as due to extensive travel and the threat of theft or kidnap – are causing an increasing amount of activity in this space, and forging links between the high-end wealth management and security industries, as a way of offering a more complete risk management service to clients.

For example, coinciding with a rise in risks due to cyber crime, a growing number of single-family offices are offering personal security services to their clients, according to a recent survey from Rothstein Kass.

Over 80 per cent of 151 executive directors surveyed in the first half of 2011 said they provide services related to security, compared to around 60 per cent in 2009. Furthermore, 90 per cent of executive directors believe threats to security will intensify.
