Ogier Boosts Guernsey Team With Triple Hire

The international law firm Ogier has boosted its business and trust law team in Guernsey with the addition of three lawyers, as it says the business is experiencing “significant growth”.

Airy Cleere joins the firm from Mason Hayes & Curran, an Irish law firm which specialises in corporate and financial law.

Richard Bennett latterly worked at the Financial Services Authority, where he was responsible for supervising a major banking group; prior to this he completed his training at Lovells.

Tim Stewart, meanwhile, previously worked at the New Zealand-based law firm Russell McVeagh.

The firm has started the year by busily expanding, last month appointing Cayman funds specialist Oliver Godwin  - latterly of Carey Olsen – as a partner in its London office, to bolster its Caribbean offering. The firm said it is committed to a full service British Virgin Islands and Cayman Islands law offering in a European time zone.

Meanwhile, in January Ogier announced the formation of a new investment offering within its private client team and hired Nick Wakefield to head it up. Wakefield previously served as a fund manager at Orchard for three years and for seven at Ashburton.
