Offshore Law Firms Join Forces

Offshore law firm Carey Olsen has linked up with South Africa-based Hempel and Boyd to provide their clients with British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Guernsey and Jersey legal services.

The move follows Carey Olsen’s entry into the Cayman Islands legal market in 2012 and its launch of BVI services through its Guernsey office, also last year.

“Our clients are increasingly looking to us to provide services in multiple jurisdictions... Hempel and Boyd caught our attention as a young and dynamic firm with a strong client-orientated approach which matches our own ethos,” Alex Ohlsson, Carey Olsen's managing partner, said in a statement.

For Hempel and Boyd, Clinton Hempel, managing partner, said: “Over the course of the year, our Cape Town office will expand to become the first full service, multi-jurisdictional offshore law practice in Africa.”
