Offshore Law Firm Appoints Raft Of Partners

A number of internal partner appointments have been made at Ogier, the offshore law firm.

Ogier Group has doubled its size over the past five years and now has offices in Bahrain, Tokyo, British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, Guernsey, Hong Kong, Ireland, Jersey, London, Montevideo and New Zealand.

According to Ogier, the appointment of Jane Pearce, Paul Perris, Nicholas Plowman, Sally Edwards and Edward Mackereth as partners is a direct result of the company’s growth.

“These appointments reflect our commitment to establishing a solid foundation for the future, ensuring that we are structured and organised to support future business growth, whether this be continued growth of our existing businesses and service lines or taking advantage of new market opportunities,” said Nick Kershaw, group chief executive officer.

Ms Pearce has been appointed partner at Ogier Fiduciary Services in Jersey where she will continue to specialise in fund administration. She joined Ogier in 2006 having previously headed up private equity administration for UK private bank Kleinwort Benson.
 
Mr Perris has been made an partner at Ogier Fiduciary Services in Bahrain. Having joined the Jersey office in 1999 Mr Perris has previously worked at Abacus Financial Services and Standard Bank.

Mr Plowman joins as a partner in Hong Kong. As a Solicitor in New Zealand, England and Wales and BVI, as well as being registered as a foreign lawyer by the Hong Kong law society, Mr Plowman has experience with large cross border and multi-jurisdictional transactions, Ogier said.

Ms Edwards, who joined the firm in 2003, has been appointed partner in Jersey. She currently advises a range of professional trustees, settlers and beneficiaries on all issues concerning trusts.

Mr Mackereth has also been appointed partner in Jersey. His specialisations cover fraud, trusts, financial services regulation, restructuring and insolvency, anti-money laundering law and regulation, contractual, shareholder and boardroom disputes.
